Growing Up
Judith Steinberg grew up in Roslyn, New York. This town is on Long Island, near New York City. Both of her parents were doctors. Her family followed the Jewish faith.
She studied biochemistry at Princeton University. Then, she earned her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. This college is part of Yeshiva University. There, she met Howard Dean, who was also a medical student.
Her Career as a Doctor
After finishing a special medical training in Canada, Judith moved to Burlington, Vermont. She and Howard Dean started their own medical office together. She uses her family name, "Dr. Steinberg," at work. This helps people know she is different from her husband.
