A Glimpse into Julian's History
Julian was first settled by people from France. The village was named after an early settler from France named Julian Bahuaud. People chose his first name because his last name was hard to say!
In June 1899, something sad happened. Julian Bahuaud, who lived alone near the village, passed away. For many years, no one knew exactly what happened.
Then, in 1913, a clue appeared. One of the people who had been suspected in the case became very ill in Kansas. Thinking he might not survive, he shared what he knew about the event. He later recovered and was brought back to Auburn, Nebraska. There, the truth about what happened was finally revealed.
