Early Life and Dreams
Julian Bradley was born in Baltimore, Maryland. When he was 11 years old, in 1992, he moved to La Crosse, Wisconsin, with his mother. From a young age, he was very interested in politics.
After finishing La Crosse Central High School in 1999, Julian faced a challenge. His mother was not well, and he couldn't afford to go to college right away. He decided to follow another passion from his childhood: professional wrestling. He joined a "wrestling school" in Philadelphia. His goal was to earn money to help support his family. He started his professional wrestling career on August 28, 1999, using the name Kris Krude.
From Wrestling to Work
After living in Philadelphia for several years, Julian started attending Temple University. However, he only stayed there for one year. In 2007, he decided to leave professional wrestling behind. He moved back to Wisconsin to finish his college degree. He studied at the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse.
While he was a student at UW–La Crosse, he began working. He was an area repair supervisor for a company called CenturyLink. In 2014, he graduated with a degree in political science and economics. He continued to work hard at CenturyLink and became a manager by 2017. In 2019, he got a new job as a manager at Northwestern Mutual. This job required him to move to Franklin, Wisconsin, which is in Milwaukee County.
Becoming a Politician
Julian Bradley has always been interested in public service. He started his political journey by getting involved in local party activities.
First Steps in Politics
His first attempt to be elected to office was in 2010. He ran for the Wisconsin State Assembly in the 95th district. However, he did not win the Republican primary election. Even after this loss, he continued to work as a volunteer for the Republican Party of Wisconsin. He met Bill Feehan, who asked Julian to be his vice chair for the La Crosse County Republican Party. They were both elected in 2011.
Less than a year later, Bill Feehan left his position. Julian Bradley was then chosen to take his place. Julian was the chairman of the La Crosse County Republican Party from 2011 to 2014. He stepped down to try for elected office again. In 2013, he was also elected as the vice chair of the state Republican Party for the 3rd congressional district. He was recognized for his community work.
Running for State Office
In 2014, Julian Bradley ran for office again. This time, he challenged the long-serving Wisconsin Secretary of State, Doug La Follette. Julian won the Republican primary election. However, he did not win the general election against Doug La Follette. This was a tough election for him, even though other Republicans won many statewide offices that year.
Winning a Senate Seat
After moving to Franklin in 2019, Julian Bradley became active in politics once more. In 2020, he announced he would run for State Senator. He wanted to replace State Senator Dave Craig, who was not running for re-election. Several other candidates also ran in the Republican primary for this Senate seat.
Julian Bradley stood out because he had strong support from important Republicans. These included former Republican governor Scott Walker. Julian won the primary election with 40% of the votes. He then went on to win the general election against Democrat Adam Murphy. He received almost 60% of the votes.
Recently, new district maps were created for Wisconsin. This means Julian Bradley's home is no longer in the 28th Senate district. However, he has said he plans to move so he can continue to live in the district and run for re-election in 2024.
His Life Today
Julian Bradley is the youngest of three children. He currently lives in Franklin, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin.
