Julianus Kemo Sunarko S.J. (born December 25, 1941 – died June 26, 2020) was an Indonesian Roman Catholic bishop. A bishop is a high-ranking leader in the Christian church. He was the bishop emeritus of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Purwokerto, meaning he was a retired bishop of that area.

Life and Church Service
Julianus Kemo Sunarko spent many years serving the Catholic Church. He was known for his dedication and leadership.
Becoming a Priest
Sunarko studied philosophy and theology in the Netherlands. These studies helped him prepare for a life of religious service. On December 3, 1975, he became a priest. He was ordained by Cardinal Justinus Darmojuwono. Sunarko joined a special group of priests called the Society of Jesus, often known as the Jesuits.
Managing Church Finances
Sunarko was very good at managing money. Because of this skill, he became the treasurer for the Archdiocese of Semarang. An archdiocese is a large area managed by a high-ranking bishop called an archbishop. He also served as the treasurer for the Indonesian Jesuit Province, which is the Jesuit community in Indonesia.
Leading as a Bishop
On May 10, 2000, Sunarko was chosen to be the bishop of Purwokerto. He took over from Bishop Paschalis Soedita Hardjasoemarta, who had passed away. On September 8, 2000, Sunarko was officially made the bishop of the Diocese of Purwokerto. This important ceremony was led by Cardinal Julius Darmaatmadja.
Retirement and Later Years
Bishop Sunarko officially retired on December 29, 2016. This was just a few days after his 75th birthday. He sent his resignation letter to the Pope, who is the leader of the Catholic Church. After his retirement, Christophorus Tri Harsono became the new bishop of Purwokerto.
After retiring as a bishop, Sunarko continued his service. Like many Jesuits, he was given a new assignment at one of the order's churches in Ungaran. Julianus Kemo Sunarko passed away on June 26, 2020.
