Julie Enfield is a talented Canadian photographer and writer. She was born in Ottawa, Ontario. She is known for her beautiful portraits and her interesting book about kissing. Julie also lived in Italy for many years, from 1983 to 1996. There, she worked in the exciting world of fashion alongside famous designers like Giorgio Armani and Gianni Versace. In 1983, she married an Italian architect named Alberto Giulio Gioia.
Julie Enfield is the daughter of Frank A. Enfield. He was a Canadian Member of Parliament (M.P.) and a Queen's Counsel (Q.C.) barrister. This means he was a lawyer who advised the Queen.

Becoming a Photographer

Julie Enfield has won several awards for her photography. In 2008, she won first prize for Best Portrait in the TD Canada Trust SNAP '08 photo contest. She won first prize again in the same contest in 2009. In 2010, her portrait of singer Measha Brueggergosman received a special mention.
Her photos have also been recognized by Canadian Geographic magazine. In August 2008, her photo "Toronto Tango" was chosen as Picture of the Month. In November 2009, her photo "Smoke and Mirrors" won Picture of the Month. Then, in October 2010, her photo "Gloves 'n' Mask" also won Picture of the Month.
In 2012, her photograph "Keeper of Culture" was a finalist in National Geographics Best Travel Portrait contest. Also, her photo "Cat in the Act" was recently published in National Geographics Daily Dozen.
