Julio Lozano Díaz (born March 27, 1885 – died August 20, 1957) was an important political leader in Honduras. He served as the Vice President of Honduras from 1949 to 1954. Later, he became the President of Honduras, holding the top position from December 5, 1954, to October 21, 1956.

Early Life and Career

Julio Lozano Díaz was born in Tegucigalpa, which is the capital city of Honduras. Before he became a politician, he worked as an accountant. He was employed by the Rosario Mining Company, where he managed financial records.

Becoming a Finance Minister

His career in government began when he became the Minister of Finance of Honduras. He held this important role from 1934 to 1936. As Finance Minister, he was in charge of the country's money and economy.

Rise to Power

In 1954, Julio Lozano Díaz was the Vice President. On November 16, 1954, he took over as the country's leader. This happened because the President at the time, Juan Manuel Gálvez, had to leave the country for medical treatment.

Taking Control of the Government

In December 1954, there was a big problem with the presidential elections. The results were not clear, causing a political crisis. Because of this, Julio Lozano Díaz announced that he was the new chief of state. He then started to put his own plans and policies into action for the country.

End of His Leadership

Julio Lozano Díaz was not very popular with the people. He also had health problems. Because of these reasons, the military eventually made him step down from power.

Later Election and Death

In 1956, he won a democratic election. However, the military government decided that the election results were not valid. They canceled his victory. Julio Lozano Díaz passed away the next year, on August 20, 1957, in Miami, Florida, in the United States.
