Julius Babao's Career Journey
Julius Babao started his career in 1990. He began as a production assistant at GMA Network's radio station, DZBB-AM.
Early Days in Journalism
Julius worked hard and soon became a radio reporter. He also wrote news stories for GMA News. In 1993, he moved to ABS-CBN. There, he became a TV reporter for TV Patrol. That same year, he was chosen to be a backup anchor for TV Patrol.
Hosting Morning Shows
In 1996, Julius got his own show called Alas Singko Y Medya. He hosted it with Christine Bersola-Babao, who later became his wife. This show ran until 2001. After that, the couple hosted another morning talk show, Talk TV, from 2001 to 2002.
Becoming a Main News Anchor
In April 2003, Julius became a main anchor for TV Patrol. He joined Korina Sanchez on the weekday edition. Later, Karen Davila and Ted Failon joined the show in November 2004. The newscast was then called TV Patrol World.
In 2004, Julius and Christine started a morning radio show. It was for DZMM and was called Magandang Morning with Julius and Tintin.
Investigative Reporting and Other Shows
In 2006, Julius became a host for XXX: Exklusibong, Explosibong, Exposé. This show investigated problems in public and private groups in the Philippines. Julius often joined law enforcement teams in their operations.
On November 5, 2010, Julius left TV Patrol. He moved to anchor the late-night newscast, Bandila, with Ces Oreña-Drilon.
In 2011, he started anchoring Aksyon Ngayon and Radyo Patrol Balita: Alas-Dose. These shows aired on weekdays.
In 2017, Julius began hosting Lingkod Kapamilya on radio. He also continued to anchor Radyo Patrol Balita: Alas-Dose. This show later merged with Headline Pilipinas in 2019. He also hosted Mission Possible, an award-winning show that helps people.
Moving to TV5
Julius Babao left ABS-CBN on December 31, 2021. He had worked there for 28 years. He joined TV5 in January 2022. Since February 7, 2022, he has been anchoring Frontline Pilipinas. He hosts this show with Cheryl Cosim.
On March 21, 2022, his new radio program started. It is called Julius & Tintin: Para Sa Pamilyang Pilipino. He hosts it with his wife. In September 2024, his show Julius Babao Unplugged also started airing on TV5.

Julius Babao studied Mass Communications at the University of the Philippines Diliman. He focused on film and audio-visual communication.
Family and Hobbies
He is married to his former co-host, Christine Bersola. They have two children: a daughter named Antonia Julia Sofia (Anya), born in 2005, and a son named Antonio Francesco, born in 2010.
The couple also loves animals and has raised Siberian Huskies. Julius and Christine are also big art collectors. They have bought many paintings from the Boston Gallery. In 2008, they even auctioned off paintings to help develop the Art 40 Village in Bagong Silang, Caloocan.
Julius also enjoys collecting "Hypebeast" items and Streetwear. He especially likes items from the brand Supreme. He is also a sneakerhead, meaning he collects sneakers. He even has a YouTube channel where he shares his passion for these hobbies.
Awards and Recognitions
Julius Babao has received many awards for his work.
- In 2008 and 2009, he won Best Male Newscaster at the PMPC Star Awards for TV.
- He also won Best Morning Show Host in 1999 and 2000 from the same awards.
- In 2008, students at the USTv Student's Choice Awards chose him as their favorite Male News and Public Affairs Host.
- He was also named one of the Most Admired Male TV Personalities by the Anak TV Seal in 2008. This award is for TV personalities who are good role models for children.
- The COMGUILD Center for Journalism also recognized him. He won Most Outstanding Male News Presenter in 2007 and 2009.
- In 2014, he received the Golden Screen TV Award for Outstanding Male News Presenter.
