Julius Drum (born March 18, 1958 – died September 17, 2007) was a talented Native American actor. He was also known by the name Julius L. Corder. He became famous for his roles in movies like Thunderheart and Dark Blood.
Early Life and Career
Julius Drum was born in Winnebago, Nebraska. When he was five years old, he was adopted by John and Dorothy Corder. They lived in McCook, Nebraska.
After finishing school, Julius went to medical school in California. To help pay for his studies, he worked as an actor in television commercials. He was a member of the Screen Actors Guild, which is a group for actors.
Acting Roles and Recognition
Julius Drum played an important role in the 1992 movie, Thunderheart. He acted as the character Richard Yellow Hawk. He also appeared in the movie Dark Blood, which was released in 2012. Sadly, this movie came out after he had passed away.
Julius was also involved with the Lincoln Indian Center. He was active in the American Indian Movement. These groups work to support and help Native American people. For his acting in Thunderheart, he received an award. It was called the Outstanding New Performer award from First Americans in the Arts.
Later Life and Passing
Julius Drum faced health challenges due to diabetes. He sought care at the Carl T. Curtis Health Center in Macy, Nebraska. He passed away at this center on September 17, 2007.
