JumpStart 2nd Grade is a fun video game that helps kids learn. It was released on March 26, 1996, by a company called Knowledge Adventure. This game was made to teach students who were in second grade. In the United Kingdom, the game was known as Jump Ahead Year 2. A newer version, JumpStart Advanced 2nd Grade, replaced it in 2002.
What is JumpStart 2nd Grade About?
Like other JumpStart games, this one takes place in a school. The adventure begins after school hours. A giant anthropomorphic frog named C.J. enters a classroom. He then frees a firefly named Edison. In the United Kingdom, the firefly's name is Newton.
Meet C.J. and Edison
C.J. and Edison (or Newton in the UK) are a funny pair. C.J. loves adventures and thinks of himself as a great explorer. Edison, on the other hand, is more sensible. He often makes sarcastic comments about C.J.'s big ideas. This duo has appeared in many other JumpStart games. Their looks and personalities have changed a lot over the years. Edison in the US version speaks with an Irish accent. Newton in the UK version does not have this accent.
How the Game Was Made
JumpStart 2nd Grade was first announced in January 1997. It was part of a bigger set of games called the JumpStart Grade School entertainment system. When the game was being developed, its working name was "JumpStart Adventures 2nd Grade".
