History of Jumpertown
Early Events in Jumpertown
Jumpertown has been around for a long time. An important event happened here during the American Civil War. On November 5, 1862, a small fight, called a skirmish, took place in the town.
The Agricultural Wheel Movement
Later, in November 1886, Jumpertown hosted a big meeting. This meeting was for a group called the Agricultural Wheel. This group was made up of farmers. They worked together to help farmers get fair prices and better conditions. The Agricultural Wheel was an early example of a movement that later led to the Populist Party. This party aimed to help ordinary people, especially farmers, have a stronger voice in politics.
