Alvin Earl "Junior" Moore, born on January 25, 1953, is a former professional baseball player from America. He played as a third baseman and outfielder in the Major Leagues. Junior Moore played in 289 games for two teams: the Atlanta Braves from 1976 to 1977, and the Chicago White Sox from 1978 to 1980. He was a right-handed batter and thrower. He stood about 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighed around 185 pounds.
Junior Moore's Baseball Journey
Junior Moore was chosen by the Atlanta Braves in the 1971 Major League Baseball Draft. This happened after he finished high school in Richmond, California. He spent six seasons playing in minor league baseball before joining the Major Leagues.
His first Major League game was on August 2, 1976. He played third base for the Braves against the San Diego Padres. In 1977, he played a lot for the Braves, appearing in 112 games. Most of these games he started as the third baseman.
After the 1977 season, the Braves let him go. He then signed with the Chicago White Sox as a free agent. In 1978, he split his time between the White Sox and their minor league team.
Junior Moore played a full season in the Major Leagues again in 1979. He mostly played as an outfielder, appearing in 88 games. In his last Major League season in 1980, he again played for both the White Sox and their minor league team.
Career Statistics
During his 289 games in the Major Leagues, Junior Moore had 204 hits. He also hit 20 doubles, seven triples, and seven home runs. After his time in the Major Leagues, he played five more seasons in the Mexican League. He retired from professional baseball in 1985.
