Justin Gregory Smith (born January 8, 1978), known as Just Blaze, is an American record producer and DJ. A record producer helps artists create their music. A DJ plays music for audiences.
Just Blaze was born in Paterson, New Jersey. He went to Rutgers University for three years. Then, he decided to focus on making music. In the early 2000s, he became famous. He worked for Roc-A-Fella Records. He helped create a special sound called "chipmunk soul." This style uses sped-up vocal samples.
He produced the song "No Love" for Eminem in 2010. Just Blaze has also made music for video games. He was even a character in the game NBA Street Vol. 2. His stage name, Just Blaze, comes from a character named Blaze Fielding. She is from the Streets of Rage video game series.
In 2004, he started his own record label. It is called Fort Knocks Entertainment. He signed artists like Saigon and Ms. Jade to his label. In July 2018, his hometown of Paterson gave him a special award. He received a key to the city. This was to honor his "outstanding cultural contribution."
