Juárez is a large area in northern Mexico. It is one of the 67 municipalities in the state of Chihuahua. A municipality is like a county or a local government area.
The main city in this municipality is Ciudad Juárez. This city is also called the municipal seat. Most of the people living in the Juárez municipality live in Ciudad Juárez. In 2010, over 1.3 million people lived here.
The municipality and its main city are named after Benito Juárez. He was a very important president in Mexico during the 1800s. The municipality was officially started on January 5, 1826.
