Júlia Isabelle Bergmann is a talented volleyball player. She was born on February 21, 2001. Júlia plays as an outside hitter, which means she attacks the ball from the front row. Since 2019, she has been a key player for the Brazil women's national volleyball team.

Júlia also has a brother, Lukas Bergmann, who plays for the Brazil men's national volleyball team.

Early Life and Moving to Brazil

Júlia Bergmann was born and grew up in Munich, Germany. Her mother is Brazilian, and her father is German. When she was about 10 years old, in 2011, her family moved to Brusque, Brazil.

Her parents wanted Júlia and her brother to experience a new country. They wanted them to learn about a different culture and language. This move helped Júlia become fluent in three languages: German, Portuguese, and English.

Both of Júlia's parents played volleyball. This inspired her to start playing the sport in fifth grade. After just two years, she was already playing in high-level tournaments for her city.

From a young age, Júlia knew she wanted to go to college in the United States. She chose Georgia Tech because she could play volleyball there. She also wanted to study physics.

Volleyball Career Highlights

College Volleyball Journey

Júlia joined the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets volleyball team in 2019. In her first year, she was amazing! She led her team in "kills," which is when a player hits the ball so well that the other team can't return it. She was also named the best freshman player in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

In 2021, when she was a junior, Júlia helped her team reach the final eight teams in the NCAA Division I women's volleyball tournament. This was a huge achievement, as it was the first time in 18 years that Georgia Tech made it that far. For her excellent play, she was named an AVCA First Team All-American. She also earned the title of ACC Player of the Year. She was one of the top players in the entire NCAA for points and kills that season.

In May 2022, Júlia was chosen to be on the roster for the FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League tournament. In her first game as a starting outside hitter for the national team, she was the top scorer in kills. This helped Brazil defeat Germany.
