KADA (1230 AM) is a radio station located in Ada, Oklahoma. It plays modern rock music and is known by its fun name, Pirate Radio 102.3. You can also listen to it on 102.3 FM through a special signal called a translator. The station, along with its sister stations, is owned by The Chickasaw Nation.
A Look Back: KADA's History
KADA has been on the air for a very long time! It first started broadcasting in 1934. This makes it one of the older radio stations around.
In 1937, KADA became a founding member of the Oklahoma Network. This was a group of radio stations that worked together to share programs and news across Oklahoma.
More recently, on January 1, 2018, KADA changed its music style. It switched from playing sports talk to playing "active rock" music. This is when it got its new name, "Pirate Radio 102.3". The station also started broadcasting on 102.3 FM at the same time, so more people could tune in.
