Kabir Bakul, born on November 21, 1966, is a famous Bangladeshi lyricist and journalist. He is well-known for writing the words to many popular songs. He has won the prestigious Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Lyrics six times! These awards were for his work on films like Megher Kole Rod (2008), Swami Strir Wada (2009), Nisshash Amar Tumi (2010), Purno Doirgho Prem Kahini (2013), Nayok (2018), and Bishwoshundori (2020). By 2013, he had already written around 5,000 songs.
Early Life and Career
Kabir Bakul grew up in Chandpur, Bangladesh. He learned how to sing from a teacher named Shital Kumar Ghoshal. In 1987, he moved to Dhaka. There, he gave thirteen of his song lyrics to the singer Tapan Chowdhury.
Bakul's very first song, Kaal Shara Raat, was featured in Ayub Bachchu’s album, Moyna. His second song was sung by Naseem Ali Khan from the band Souls. At that time, Kabir Bakul was studying for his master's degree at the University of Dhaka. Later, he started working with Monowar Hossen Tutul.
Kabir Bakul also became a reporter for a newspaper called the Daily Bhorer Kagoj. Since 2004, he has been in charge of the "Ananda" page for another newspaper, Prothom Alo.
He began writing songs professionally in 1991. In 1994, he wrote his first song for a movie called Agni Shantan. He also worked with famous actor Shakib Khan on the romance movie Dujon Dujonar in 1999. Kabir Bakul even hosted a music TV show called "Sur Shambhar" on Bangladesh Television.

Personal Life
Kabir Bakul married Dinat Jahan Munni, who is also a musician, in 1997. They have three children together. Their two daughters are named Prerona and Protikkha, and their son is named Prochchhod.
