How Kallinge Started
Kallinge began as a small community. It grew because of an iron factory that opened in the late 1800s. Before that, there was a long, narrow village called Kalleberga. This village was located along the east side of the Ronneby River. The name Kallinge comes from this older village.
Kallinge's Airport
Since 1944, Kallinge has been home to an important air force base. This base is called the Blekinge Wing. It is also used as a public airport for regular flights. This airport is known as Ronneby Airport.
