Ronneby is a town in Blekinge County, Sweden. It is home to about 12,000 people. Ronneby is often called the "Garden of Sweden."
In 2005, a park in Ronneby called "Brunnsparken" was voted Sweden's most beautiful park. The next year, it was named the 4th most beautiful park in all of Europe! The old church, Heliga Kors kyrka, was built in the 1100s. It was changed and made bigger until the 1400s. Sadly, it was badly damaged during a war in the 1500s.

Ronneby's Past: A Journey Through Time
Ronneby has a long and interesting history. The town's oldest official papers date back to 1387. Around the year 1300, it was first called Rotnæby. This name means "the village upon the roaring river." It got this name because of the fast-moving water nearby. In the Middle Ages, Ronneby was an important place for trading and shipping goods.
The Ronneby Bloodbath
In 1564, a very sad event happened in Ronneby. It was during the Northern Seven Years' War. Swedish soldiers, led by King Erik XIV, attacked the city. Many people were killed, and the city was burned down. This terrible event is known as the Ronneby Bloodbath. King Erik later said that the water was "red from blood." Both sides in the war made the number of victims seem much higher for their own reasons.
Becoming Part of Sweden
After a peace agreement in 1658, Ronneby and other southern areas became part of Sweden. A new navy base was built in Karlskrona, a town east of Ronneby. Karlskrona was given city rights, but Ronneby's city rights were taken away.
Ronneby's Healing Waters
Even without city rights, Ronneby grew. In the 1700s, some factories started here. The town also became famous for its spa. People believed the water from the spa had special healing powers. The park around the spa is still a nice place to visit today. The first special water, which had iron in it, was found in 1705. But the spa was most popular in the 1800s.
Rebuilding and Regaining City Status
In 1864, a big fire destroyed much of Ronneby. When the town was rebuilt, it was laid out in a grid pattern. This design is still used today. Ronneby finally got its city title back in 1882. Since 1971, it has been the main town of the larger Ronneby Municipality.
Discovering an Ancient Shipwreck
In the 1970s, a local diving club found an old shipwreck near Ronneby's coast. Experts later found out it was the Gribshunden. This was a Danish warship from the 1400s. This shipwreck is very important because it is one of the best-preserved old ships ever found.
Ronneby's Coat of Arms
Ronneby has used a special symbol, called a coat of arms, for a long time. Since at least 1542, it showed the letter R with a star and a crescent moon. In 1882, the design was changed. The letter R was replaced with a picture of the Ronnebyå River. The same coat of arms is still used by the municipality today.

- Knut Hahn Secondary School: This school is mainly for students in their late teens. It was completely updated in 2004. It teaches many subjects like arts, science, and business. About 700 students go to this school.
- Blekinge Institute of Technology: This college used to be in Ronneby but moved to Karlskrona in 2010.
Ronneby also has many schools for younger children. Most of these schools are run by the municipality. One secondary school, called Thoren Framtid, is run by a private company.
Ronneby's Weather
