Kanaranzi (say "KAN-uh-RON-zee") is a small place in Minnesota, United States. It's called an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government.
Kanaranzi is located in Rock County, within Kanaranzi Township. It is about 8 miles (13 km) southeast of a bigger town called Luverne.
History of Kanaranzi
Kanaranzi was officially planned out in 1885. When a place is "platted," it means someone drew up a map showing where streets, lots, and public areas would be. The community was named after a nearby stream, Kanaranzi Creek.
For many years, Kanaranzi had its own post office. It first opened on December 30, 1886. However, the post office closed its doors on July 4, 1992.
Population
In 2011, the Minnesota Department of Transportation estimated that about 70 people lived in Kanaranzi. This makes it a very small community.
