Kane is found in the southern part of Greene County, in the state of Illinois. Its exact location is 39°11′26″N 90°21′9″W / 39.19056°N 90.35250°W.
The village is about 9 miles (14 km) south of Carrollton, which is the main town of Greene County. It is also about 6 miles (10 km) north of Jerseyville.
