Kansas Bowling (born August 2, 1996) is an American filmmaker. She directs, writes, films, and acts in movies. She is well-known for directing films like B.C. Butcher (2016) and Cuddly Toys (2022). She also acted in the movie Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019).

Early Life

Kansas Bowling grew up in California. Her parents are Arin Thompson and William Preston Bowling. When she was 13, she got a Super 8 film camera for Christmas. She immediately started making short films with her sister.

Career

Directing Movies

Kansas Bowling directed B.C. Butcher (2016). This movie starred actors like Kato Kaelin and Rodney Bingenheimer. The film was produced by Lloyd Kaufman and released by Troma Entertainment.

B.C. Butcher first showed in theaters on March 3, 2016. The premiere was at Grauman's Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, California. Kansas was the first person to join the Troma Institute For Gifted Youth. W Magazine also named her one of their "Next in Line" up-and-comers in April 2016.

Music Videos

Bowling has directed over 30 music videos. She often shoots these videos using older film types like 8mm or 16mm film.

In 2018, she directed a video for the band Death Valley Girls. It was for their song "Disaster (Is What We're After)". The video shows musician Iggy Pop eating a hamburger for four minutes. This video was a tribute to an older film from 1982.

She also directed another video for Death Valley Girls in 2018. This one was for their song "One Less Thing (Before I Die)". For this video, Bowling filmed daredevil Mad Mike Hughes. She captured his successful homemade rocket launch.

In 2019, Kansas played Sandra Good in Quentin Tarantino's movie Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Sandra Good was a member of the Manson family.
