Kara Lynn Lindsay is an American actress and singer. She was born on February 16, 1985. She is famous for her roles in popular musicals. You might know her as Katherine Plumber in Newsies. She also played Glinda in the musical Wicked.

Becoming an Actress

Kara Lynn Lindsay grew up in Rochester, New York. She went to Greece Athena High School. After high school, she studied at Carnegie Mellon University. There, she earned a special degree. It was a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in acting and musical theatre.

Her Amazing Career

Kara Lynn Lindsay started her acting journey in 2009. She played Laura in a musical called Little House on the Prairie. This show was at the Paper Mill Playhouse. She even worked with Melissa Gilbert. Melissa played Laura in the original TV show!

Starring in Newsies

In 2011, Kara got a big role. She became Katherine Plumber in Newsies. This was a new Disney musical for the stage. Katherine is a made-up character in the story. She is the love interest of the main character, Jack Kelly. Kara said she got ideas for her role from a real reporter. This reporter was named Nellie Bly. Kara continued playing Katherine when Newsies moved to Broadway. Her last show as Katherine was on February 2, 2014.

Playing Glinda in Wicked

Kara then joined the musical Wicked. From April to November 2014, she played Glinda. This was for the second national tour of the show. She acted alongside Laurel Harris, who played Elphaba.

Later, Kara played Glinda on Broadway. She was on stage from December 2014 to January 2016. She returned to the role on Broadway in November 2016. In 2018, she went back to the Wicked national tour. She left the tour in February 2019 in Salt Lake City.

Her Life Outside the Stage

Kara Lynn Lindsay met Kevin Massey in 2008. They met while trying out for Little House on the Prairie. They started dating around 2009 when the show went on tour. After the tour, they got engaged. Kara and Kevin got married on June 2, 2013. They have a son named Emerson Charles Massey. He was born on November 12, 2019. Kara and Kevin often perform together. They appear every year at the Disney Epcot International Festival of Arts. This festival is in Orlando, Florida.
