Karl Sebastien Dykhuis (born July 8, 1972) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He was a defenceman, which is a player who helps protect his team's goal. Karl played for 12 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL). He played for teams like the Chicago Blackhawks, Philadelphia Flyers, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Montreal Canadiens.

Early Life and Junior Hockey

Karl Dykhuis was born in Sept-Îles, Quebec, Canada. When he was a young hockey player, he took part in big tournaments. He played in the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament in both 1985 and 1986. This is a famous tournament for young hockey players from all over the world.

Playing in the NHL

Karl was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in 1990. He was the 16th player chosen overall that year. He started his professional career in 1991. Over his 12 years in the NHL, he played in 644 games. He scored 42 goals and made 91 assists, adding up to 133 points. He was known for his strong defensive play.

During a time when the NHL season was paused in 2004–2005, Karl went to play in Europe. He joined the Amsterdam Bulldogs Hockey Club in The Netherlands. This showed his love for the game, even when the NHL was not playing.
