Early life and education
Karla Cheatham Mosley grew up in Westchester County, New York. She studied at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. She also continued her studies in France at the Roy Hart Vocal Institute.
When she was young, Karla sang in a children's rock group called Sugar Beats. This group was created by Sherry Goffin Kondor. Sherry is the daughter of famous singer and writer Carole King. Karla sang popular songs like "Rockin' Robin" with the group.
Acting career
Joining Hi-5 (2003–2006)
In 2003, while still in college, Karla joined the American version of the Australian children's TV show Hi-5. She was the youngest member of the group. Her part of the show was called "Body Move." In this segment, she led viewers in fun stretching, exercising, and dancing.
Karla often helped connect the different parts of the show. She performed her skits between other cast members' acts. She also provided the voice for a character named Chatterbox on the show. In 2006, Karla left Hi-5 to explore other acting opportunities.
Daytime TV success (2008–present)
From 2008 to 2009, Karla Mosley starred in the CBS soap opera Guiding Light. She played the role of Christina Boudreau. Christina was a pre-med student who married Remy Boudreau.
In 2013, Karla joined another CBS soap opera, The Bold and the Beautiful. She played the character of Maya Avant. Maya was an actress who had been in trouble before. Karla also worked on a web series called Room 8 The Series. She starred in it with her The Bold and the Beautiful co-star, Lawrence Saint-Victor. This web series was part of the main show's story.
Karla's character, Maya Avant, made history on TV. She became the first transgender bride on daytime television. Maya married Rick Forrester in 2015. Karla continued to appear on The Bold and the Beautiful in a recurring role until October 2020.
