Karmin was an American pop music duo. It was made up of Amy Renee Noonan and Nick Noonan. They started by sharing cover songs on YouTube. This helped them become very popular. In 2011, they signed with Epic Records, a big music company.
In May 2012, Karmin released their first EP, called Hello. This EP included popular songs like "Brokenhearted" and "Hello". Rolling Stone magazine even named Amy the winner of their "Women Who Rock" contest in 2012.
Their first full album, Pulses, came out in March 2014. The song "Acapella" from this album was a big hit. It reached the top 10 in Australia and New Zealand. It also sold enough copies to be certified Gold in the United States.
After 2014, Karmin left Epic Records. They started releasing their music on their own. Their second album, Leo Rising, was released on September 9, 2016. In 2017, the duo decided to stop making music as Karmin. Amy Noonan then started a new solo project called Qveen Herby. This new music style focuses more on R&B and hip-hop.

Life and Music Journey
How Karmin Started
Amy Heidemann and Nick Noonan met at Berklee College of Music in Boston. They both graduated in 2008. Amy went to Seward High School in Nebraska. Nick went to Old Town High School in Maine. They have been a couple since 2005. In March 2016, they shared that they were married. Amy even changed her Twitter name to Amy Noonan.
The duo became very well-known because of their videos on YouTube. They got over 320 million views on their two channels. The name "Karmin" comes from two words. It sounds like the Latin word carmen, which means "song." It also sounds like the word karma.
Making Music and Albums
Karmin signed a deal with Epic Records. In June 2012, they went into the studio to record their first EP, Hello. It was released digitally on May 7.
In 2013, they released cover songs like Drake's "Started from the Bottom". They also released a mix of "Karate Chop/Sweet Dreams" by Future. These songs were given away for free online. Their song "Acapella" came out in July 2013. It reached number 72 on the US Billboard chart.
On October 28, 2013, they announced their Pulses tour for 2014. Their full album Pulses was released on March 25, 2014.
Going Independent and Leo Rising
In 2014, after their album Pulses and its tour, Karmin left Epic Records. Amy said they wanted to try a more "honest" musical style. They wanted to be "nerdier" than the record company wanted.
Six months after Pulses, in September 2014, Karmin released a song with rapper George Watsky. It was called "No Flex Zone (Remix)". Nick Noonan produced this song. Later that year, Karmin started working on their second album, Leo Rising. They released two digital songs in 2014: "Sugar" and "Yesterday". Another song, "Along the Road", came out in March 2015.
In 2016, Wild Culture released an EP called Sugar with Karmin. It had different versions of "Sugar." The album Leo Rising was released on September 9, 2016.
Amy's New Path: Qveen Herby
In early 2017, Amy Noonan shared news about new music. She said a tour for Leo Rising might happen in 2018. Soon after, all of Karmin's social media changed to Qveen Herby. A message said, "Karmin Is Dead, Long Live the Queen."
Amy Noonan then officially announced her solo career. She launched her website, Qveenherby.com. The music video for Qveen Herby's first song, "Busta Rhymes," came out on June 1, 2017. Her first EP, EP 1, was released the next day. Critics liked the EP. They praised Amy's new style and her move into R&B and hip hop music. The EP also did well on the music charts.
