Early Life and Education
Katherine Barrell was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Her mother is from Slovenia. She went to Assumption Catholic Secondary School in Burlington, Ontario. There, she played lead roles in school plays. She also wrote, directed, and acted in a play with a friend.
She directed her high school's version of The Wizard of Oz. Katherine was also part of the Burlington Student Theatre for two years. She first studied musical theatre at Sheridan College. Later, she moved to George Brown College. She studied filmmaking and acting there, graduating in 2010. She also trained at The Groundlings, a comedy school.

Personal Life
Katherine Barrell supports the "Pink Box Program." This program is run by GIRL TALK Empowerment. It is a Canadian group that helps girls feel strong and become leaders.
She is married to actor Ray Galletti. They met while working on the movie My Ex-Ex. They got engaged in 2016 and married in 2017.
Katherine and Ray have two children. Their son, Ronin Barrell Galletti, was born on September 8, 2021. Their daughter, Celeste Monique Barrell Galletti, was born on May 21, 2024.
