Katrina Robinson (born January 13, 1981) is an American former politician. She served in the Tennessee Senate from 2019 to 2022. She represented the 33rd district as a member of the Democratic Party. She was the first person ever removed from the state senate.
Robinson was born in Memphis, Tennessee. She studied at the University of Memphis and Union University. In 2015, she started her own nursing college. She was elected to the state senate in 2018. She won against the person who held the seat before her, Senator Reginald Tate.
Later, Robinson faced legal issues. She was found responsible for some financial problems related to her nursing school. She was removed from her position in the state senate in 2022.

Katrina Robinson was born on January 13, 1981. Her hometown is Memphis, Tennessee. She has a sister named Sherra Wright-Robinson. Sherra was married to professional basketball player Lorenzen Wright.
Katrina Robinson went to the University of Memphis. She studied there from 1998 to 2008. She earned a degree in marketing management. In 2010, she graduated from Union University. There, she earned a degree in nursing.
Career Path
Starting a Nursing College
In 2015, Robinson started her own school. It was called The Healthcare Institute. This school focused on nursing education. It received money from the United States Department of Health and Human Services. From 2015 to 2019, the school received a total of $2.2 million in government money.
The Healthcare Institute began with only two students. Over time, it grew a lot. It eventually had more than six hundred students.
Serving in the Tennessee Senate
In 2018, Katrina Robinson ran for a political office. She was elected to the Tennessee Senate. She represented the 33rd district. She was a member of the Democratic Party.
She announced her plan to run on January 29, 2018. She won the primary election against the person who held the seat before her, Senator Reginald Tate. She did not have any opponents in the main election. She was supported by United States Representative Steve Cohen. She was also supported by Senate Minority Leader Sara Kyle.
Legal Challenges and Senate Removal
In 2016, an investigation began into Robinson. This happened after a complaint was made. The complaint was about how she used money from government grants. In 2020, the Federal Bureau of Investigation looked into her home and nursing school.
On July 30, 2020, Robinson faced many charges. These charges were about how money from government programs was used. She was accused of misusing about $600,000 from the grants. These grants were given to her nursing school between 2015 and 2019.
On August 12, 2020, she said she was not guilty. However, on September 30, 2021, she was found responsible for some financial issues. The number of charges against her was reduced. A judge decided she was not responsible for many of the counts. She was given a supervised release for one year on March 18, 2022.
After these events, some leaders asked Robinson to step down. Lieutenant Governor Randy McNally was one of them. Robinson believed she was unfairly targeted. On February 2, 2022, the state senate voted to remove her. The vote was twenty-seven to five. This made her the first person ever to be removed from the Tennessee State Senate.
