Kazushige Kirihata (桐畑 和繁) is a Japanese former footballer. He was born on June 30, 1987. He played as a goalkeeper, which is the player who protects the goal. Kirihata started his career with Kashiwa Reysol. He played for this club for most of his career. Later, he spent two years playing for FC Gifu on loan. After a 16-year professional career, he stopped playing football in January 2023. He then started a new role as a coach with Criacao Shinjuku.

Kirihata's Football Journey

Kazushige Kirihata began his football journey in the youth team of Kashiwa Reysol. He played there from 2003 to 2005. In 2006, he joined the main professional team. He stayed with Kashiwa Reysol for many years, until 2022.

Playing for Kashiwa Reysol

During his time at Kashiwa Reysol, Kirihata helped his team win some big titles. In 2011, Kashiwa Reysol won the J1 League, which is Japan's top football league. They also won the J.League Cup in 2013. In 2012, his team won the Emperor's Cup, another important competition in Japan. These wins show how successful Kashiwa Reysol was during his time there.

Loan to FC Gifu

Towards the end of his playing career, Kirihata moved to FC Gifu. He played for them on loan during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. After these two years, he decided to retire from playing professional football.

Playing for Japan's National Team

In July 2007, Kirihata was chosen to join the Japan U-20 national team. This team played in the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup. Even though he was part of the squad, he did not play in any of the matches during that tournament.

Life After Playing Football

After retiring from playing in January 2023, Kazushige Kirihata did not leave the world of football. He decided to become a coach. He took on a coaching role with a team called Criacao Shinjuku. This means he now helps other players learn and improve their skills.
