Ke'Bryan Kobe Hayes (born January 28, 1997) is an American professional baseball player. He plays as a third baseman for the Pittsburgh Pirates in Major League Baseball (MLB). Ke'Bryan made his big league debut in 2020.

Early Baseball Years

Ke'Bryan Hayes went to Concordia Lutheran High School in Tomball, Texas. He was a great player there. He planned to play college baseball at the University of Tennessee. In his last year of high school in 2015, Ke'Bryan was amazing. He had a batting average of .436. He also hit three home runs and had 27 runs batted in (RBI). Plus, he stole 12 bases.

Starting a Professional Career

The Pittsburgh Pirates picked Ke'Bryan Hayes in the first round of the 2015 MLB draft. He was the 32nd player chosen overall. Instead of going to college, Ke'Bryan signed with the Pirates. In 2015, he played for two minor league teams. These were the Gulf Coast League Pirates and the West Virginia Black Bears. He batted .308 and had 20 RBI in 56 games.

Climbing the Minor League Ladder

In 2016, Ke'Bryan played for the West Virginia Power. He was named a South Atlantic League All-Star. He batted .263, hit six home runs, and had 37 RBI in 65 games. The next year, 2017, he moved up to the Bradenton Marauders. He batted .278, hit two home runs, and had 43 RBI in 108 games. He was also named a Florida State League All-Star.

Ke'Bryan played for the Altoona Curve in 2018. He became an Eastern League All-Star. He batted .293 with seven home runs and 47 RBIs in 117 games. In 2019, he played for the West Virginia Black Bears and the Indianapolis Indians. He hit 10 home runs and had 55 RBI. After that season, the Pirates added him to their main team roster.

Making it to the Major Leagues

On September 1, 2020, the Pittsburgh Pirates called Ke'Bryan up to the major leagues. He made his MLB debut on the same day. In that game, he hit his first career home run against the Chicago Cubs. Ke'Bryan did very well in his first season. He finished sixth in the voting for the 2020 National League Rookie of the Year.

In 2021, Ke'Bryan started the season strong. He hit a home run in his very first at-bat. He had a wrist injury early in the season. But he came back to play in June. On June 11, Ke'Bryan set a new record for the Pirates. He was the fastest player to get 20 extra-base hits in the modern era. He did it one game faster than the famous player Barry Bonds.

Ke'Bryan finished the 2021 season with a .257 batting average. He hit 6 home runs and had 38 RBIs. He also stole 9 bases. He won the Fielding Bible Award for his excellent defense at third base. This award shows he is one of the best defensive players.

Big Contract and Gold Glove

On April 7, 2022, Ke'Bryan Hayes signed a big contract with the Pirates. It was an eight-year deal worth $70 million. This showed how much the team believed in him.

On November 5, 2023, Ke'Bryan won a very important award. He won the Rawlings Gold Glove Award for third basemen in the National League. This award is given to the best defensive players at each position. He ended a long streak by Nolan Arenado, who had won it for 10 years in a row.

Family Life

Ke'Bryan Hayes comes from a baseball family. His dad, Charlie Hayes, was also a professional baseball player. Ke'Bryan's younger brother, Tyree Hayes, used to be a minor league pitcher.
