History of Keerbergen
The name Keerbergen has been around for a very long time. The earliest mention of the town was in the 11th century, when it was called Chierberghe.
In the year 1036, the local lord of a place called Incourt gave Keerbergen to the bishop of Liège. This was a common way for land to change hands many centuries ago.
How Keerbergen is Governed
Like all towns, Keerbergen has its own local government. The town is led by a mayor, who helps make important decisions for the community.
- Mayor: The current mayor of Keerbergen is Ann Schevenels, who belongs to the OpenVLD political party.
- Ruling Parties: The town's government is run by a group of political parties working together. In Keerbergen, these are the OpenVld and the CD&V parties. They work to improve the town for everyone who lives there.
