The Keihan Main Line is a busy railway line in Japan. It is operated by a company called Keihan Electric Railway. This line connects two famous cities: Kyoto and Osaka. You can travel from Sanjō Station in Kyoto all the way to Yodoyabashi Station in Osaka.
Some trains on the Keihan Main Line can also continue onto other lines. These are called "through services." This means you don't have to change trains to get to places on the Keihan Ōtō Line or the Keihan Nakanoshima Line.
How the Line Grew
The Keihan Main Line opened in different stages. The first part of the line started running in 1910. This section went from Temmabashi to Kiyomizu-Gojo. It had two tracks, one for each direction.
In 1915, the line was made longer. It reached all the way to Sanjo Station. Later, in 1963, another part of the line opened. This connected Temmabashi to Yodoyabashi. This made it easier for people to travel between the big cities.
