Keith moved to the UK from Guyana in 1960. He became interested in dance when a person named Lee Edwards visited his school. Edwards helped students create performance shows. After Edwards encouraged him, Keith won a scholarship. This allowed him to train at the Arts Educational Schools. He then spent a year working in Germany. After that, he joined a dance group called Ballet Rambert.

Keith Hodiak started his acting career in 1978. His first role was as Sam Spade in the movie Revenge of the Pink Panther. In 1983, he played a special robot in Doctor Who. This was for the show's 20th anniversary episode, called "The Five Doctors". The robot was known as the Raston Warrior Robot.
