The Sultan of Kelantan is like the main leader of the state of Kelantan in Malaysia. He is the head of the state, but he works with a government that makes the laws. This means he has important powers, but he also follows the rules of the state's constitution.
The current Sultan is Sultan Muhammad V. He is the 29th Sultan to rule Kelantan. He also holds a very special role as the Head of Islam in the state. This means he guides the Muslim community in Kelantan. He is also the one who gives out special titles and awards to people in Kelantan.
Sultan Muhammad V was also the 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong. This is like being the King of all Malaysia. He was chosen for this big role on 14 October 2016. He then became the head of state for all of Malaysia on 13 December 2016.
