Kelly's Early Life and Music Journey
Kelly Jones grew up in a small Welsh village called Cwmaman. He was the youngest of three boys. His parents, Beryl and Arwyn Jones, worked in factories.
Kelly's father, Arwyn, was also a singer. He even had a record deal and supported famous artists like Roy Orbison. This early exposure to music likely inspired Kelly.
As a young person, Kelly was interested in sports. He competed in boxing and played football for his county. He became friends with his neighbors, Stuart Cable and Richard Jones. In 1992, they formed a band together.
Kelly also had a talent for writing. He studied film and thought about becoming a scriptwriter. However, he soon focused on music. He used his storytelling skills to write lyrics for his band's original songs. Their first album, Word Gets Around, released in 1997, included songs about his own life.

In January 2005, Kelly performed a solo show at the Tsunami Relief Cardiff charity concert. This event took place at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
Other Music Projects
In 2007, Kelly Jones released his first solo album, Only the Names Have Been Changed. It was a special limited edition and quickly became number 1 on the iTunes download chart. Kelly explained that he started writing these songs while working on a Stereophonics album. He said, "It's strange how little things can make big things happen."
More recently, in 2023, Kelly started a new band called Far from Saints. He formed this group with Patty Lynn and Dwight Baker from the American band the Wind and the Wave. Far from Saints released their first album, Far from Saints, in 2023.
