Kelsey Marie Robinson Cook, born on June 25, 1992, is an amazing American volleyball player. She has been a key member of the United States women's national volleyball team since 2014. Kelsey is a three-time Olympian, meaning she has competed in three different Olympic Games. She has won a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, a silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and a bronze medal at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

Kelsey Robinson's Early Life

Kelsey Robinson grew up in Bartlett, Illinois. She went to St. Francis High School and finished her studies there in 2010.

Kelsey's College Volleyball Journey

Kelsey was invited to play volleyball at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln by coach John Cook. However, she first decided not to go there because she thought she wasn't good enough.

Playing for the Tennessee Volunteers

Instead, she played for three years at the University of Tennessee. While there, she was named the SEC Player of the Year in 2011. This award recognized her as the best player in her college sports conference.

Transferring to Nebraska

After her time at Tennessee, Kelsey transferred to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. She played her final year of college volleyball there. She also joined Nebraska's first-ever beach volleyball team. In 2013, she earned another big award, being named the Big Ten Player of the Year. She was also one of four finalists for the Honda Sports Award in volleyball, which honors top female college athletes.

Kelsey's Professional and International Career

Kelsey Robinson Cook has had a very successful career playing volleyball around the world and for her country.

Winning the World Championship

In 2014, Kelsey was part of the USA national team that won the gold medal at the 2014 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship. Her team beat China 3–1 in the final match to become world champions.

Playing in Europe

Kelsey also played for club teams in Europe. In the 2016–17 season, she won a silver medal in the 2016–17 CEV Women's Champions League with her team, Imoco Volley Conegliano. They lost the final match to a Turkish team, VakıfBank Istanbul. Even though her team didn't win gold, Kelsey was recognized as the "Best Outside Spiker" in the tournament.

Olympic Success with Team USA

In May 2021, Kelsey was chosen for the 18-player roster for the FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League tournament. This important competition took place in Rimini, Italy, from May 25 to June 24. It was the last major international event before the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

On June 7, 2021, the US National Team coach, Karch Kiraly, announced that Kelsey would be one of the 12 players going to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. At these Olympics, the USA team made history by winning the gold medal for the very first time!

Kelsey continued to be a key player for the US National Team. She was also part of the team that competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics. There, she helped her team win a silver medal.
