Kelvin Anderson is an American former professional football player. He was born on February 4, 1972. Kelvin played as a running back, which is a player who runs with the ball. He is famous for rushing for over 1,000 yards in eight seasons in a row in the Canadian Football League (CFL). This was a record for the league! He also won the CFL's biggest championship, the Grey Cup, twice with the Calgary Stampeders.

Early Life and College Football

Kelvin Anderson played football in high school at New Madrid County Central. After high school, he went on to play college football at Southeast Missouri State. While playing there, he earned the cool nickname "Earthquake" because of how powerfully he ran.

Amazing CFL Career

Kelvin Anderson's incredible streak of eight straight 1,000-yard seasons began in 1996. He started his CFL career with the Calgary Stampeders. In the 2000 season, he played in 15 games for Calgary. He ran for 1,048 yards and scored six touchdowns. He also caught 34 passes for 283 yards and two touchdowns. That year, he won the Eddie James Memorial Trophy as the best rusher in the Western Division.

In 2001, Kelvin was named a Western All-Star for the fifth year in a row. He was also named a CFL All-Star for the third time in his career. That season was one of his best, as he ran for a career-high 1,383 yards and scored six touchdowns. He also caught 48 passes for 433 yards and nine touchdowns. During 2001, Anderson also played in the only season of the XFL for the San Francisco Demons. He was the top rusher for his team, gaining 228 yards.

Moving Teams and Setting Records

Kelvin Anderson had played his entire CFL career with the Calgary Stampeders. However, before the 2003 season, the Stampeders decided to release him. He then signed with the BC Lions. He followed his former coach and general manager, Wally Buono, who had also left Calgary.

With the BC Lions in 2003, Kelvin continued his amazing performance. He rushed for over 1,000 yards for the eighth season in a row. This achievement set a new league record that still stands today! He decided to retire from football just before the 2004 CFL season. After he retired, Antonio Warren took over as the Lions' main running back.

Life After Football

Kelvin Anderson's incredible career was recognized in 2017. He was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame. This is a huge honor for any football player in Canada.
