Kendall Hinton (born February 19, 1997) is an American professional football player. He plays as a wide receiver. He played college football for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. In college, he played both quarterback and wide receiver. He joined the Denver Broncos in 2020. That year, he had to play as an emergency quarterback. This happened because all the team's regular quarterbacks were in COVID-19 quarantine.

Early Life and High School Football

Kendall Hinton grew up in Durham, North Carolina. He played quarterback at Southern Durham High School. In his junior year, he was a star player. He threw for almost 4,000 yards and 39 touchdowns. He helped his team win a championship title.

College Football Career

Kendall was a highly rated player coming out of high school. He decided to play college football for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. He joined the team in 2015.

Freshman Year (2015)

As a freshman, Kendall played in nine games. He started two of them. He showed he could both pass and run the ball. He threw for 929 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran for 390 yards and seven touchdowns. In one game against Army, he stepped in when the starting quarterback got hurt. Kendall led his team to a 24–21 win. He threw for 159 yards and two touchdowns in that game.

The next week, he started his first college game. He passed for 245 yards and ran for 57 yards. He also scored two touchdowns. Even though Wake Forest lost, his 245 passing yards set a new school record. It was the most passing yards by a player in their very first start.

Later College Years

In his second year, Kendall got a sprained ankle. This injury kept him out for the rest of the season. He was given a "medical redshirt". This means he could play another year later. In 2017, he was the main backup quarterback. He started one game against Clemson. He threw for 203 yards and two touchdowns in that game.

In his junior year, Kendall faced some challenges. He was suspended for the first three games. After he returned, he became the backup quarterback again. Even though he thought about leaving Wake Forest, he decided to stay for his final year.

For his senior season, Kendall made a big change. He switched from quarterback to playing slot receiver full-time. This change was a great success! He caught 73 passes for over 1,000 yards. He also scored four touchdowns as a receiver.

Professional Football Career

Kendall Hinton joined the Denver Broncos in 2020. He was not chosen in the NFL draft, but the Broncos signed him. He was later moved to their practice squad.

Emergency Quarterback (2020)

In Week 12 of the 2020 season, something very unusual happened. All four of the Broncos' regular quarterbacks could not play. They were all in COVID-19 pandemic quarantine. Because Kendall had played quarterback in college, he was the only player on the team with experience at that position. So, he was called up to be the emergency quarterback for a game against the New Orleans Saints.

It was a tough situation for Kendall. He completed only one pass for 13 yards. He also threw two interceptions. The Broncos lost the game 31–3. After this game, he returned to the practice squad.

Wide Receiver for the Broncos (2021–2022)

Kendall signed a new contract with the Broncos in 2021. He was waived (released) by the team in August but re-signed to the practice squad. He was later promoted back to the main team. In a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Kendall caught his first career touchdown pass.

In 2022, Kendall was again waived and then re-signed to the practice squad. He was called up to the main team for several games. He caught passes in games against the Houston Texans and San Francisco 49ers. He was signed to the active roster in October 2022.

On July 28, 2023, Kendall was activated from the physically unable to perform list. He was waived by the Broncos on August 23, 2023.
