Kenji Haneda (born December 1, 1981) is a former Japanese football player. He was born in Ichikawa, Japan. After retiring from playing, he became an assistant coach. He currently helps coach the Japan U23 team.

Kenji Haneda's Club Career
Kenji Haneda started his professional football journey in 2000. He joined Kashima Antlers right after finishing high school. He played as a center back for the team.
Playing for Kashima Antlers
During his time at Kashima Antlers, Kenji faced some challenges. He often had injuries, which made it hard for him to play many games. Also, there were many other talented center backs on the team. These included famous players like Yutaka Akita and Go Oiwa.
Moving to Cerezo Osaka
In 2007, Kenji decided to move to Cerezo Osaka. This club was in the J2 League, which is Japan's second-highest football division. Here, he found more opportunities to play. He often played as a defensive midfielder.
Kenji became a regular player for Cerezo Osaka in 2009. His strong performance helped the team achieve something big. They were promoted to the J1 League, the top football league in Japan!
Final Years in Football
After his successful time at Cerezo Osaka, Kenji moved to Vissel Kobe in 2011. Unfortunately, injuries bothered him again. This meant he couldn't play as much as he wanted to. He decided to retire from playing football at the end of the 2012 season.
Kenji Haneda's National Team Experience
Kenji Haneda also represented his country, Japan, in youth football. In June 2001, he was chosen to play for the Japan U-20 national team. This was a big honor for him.
Captaining the U-20 Team
He was selected for the 2001 World Youth Championship. This is a major international tournament for young players. Kenji was even chosen to be the captain of the Japan U-20 team!
During the tournament, he played in all three matches. He played as a center back in every game. He showed great leadership and skill on the field.
