Kentaro Oi (大井 健太郎, Ōi Kentarō, born May 14, 1984) is a Japanese football player. He plays as a centre-back for Eastern Lions.

Kentaro Oi's Club Career

Kentaro Oi started his football journey after finishing Fujieda Higashi High School in 2003. He joined his local club, Júbilo Iwata. He made his first professional appearance on July 16, 2003. This was in a J.League Cup match against Tokyo Verdy.

His first league start was on September 26, 2004. This game was at Kobe Wing Stadium against Vissel Kobe. In the 2007 season, Kentaro became a regular player for Júbilo Iwata. He played in 26 games that year.

In 2011, Kentaro Oi joined Shonan Bellmare for a one-year loan. He played 36 league games for Bellmare and scored 2 goals. After his loan ended, he decided not to sign a new contract with Júbilo Iwata. Instead, on January 7, 2011, he made a permanent move to Albirex Niigata.

After playing for Albirex Niigata, Kentaro Oi returned to Júbilo Iwata in 2016. He played there until 2023. Currently, he plays for Eastern Lions.

Playing for Japan's National Team

Kentaro Oi also represented his country. He was a member of the Japan U-17 national team. This team played in the 2001 U-17 World Championship. Kentaro played in 3 games during this competition. However, his team was eliminated after the group stage.
