Kerry Tremaine Joseph (born October 4, 1973) is an American football coach and former player. He is currently a special assistant to the head coach for the Texas Longhorns.
Joseph played college football as a quarterback for the McNeese Cowboys. He was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals in 1996. Later, he played defensive back for the Seattle Seahawks from 1998 to 2001. Joseph then played in the Canadian Football League (CFL) as a quarterback from 2003 to 2014. He was named the CFL's Most Outstanding Player in 2007. That year, he led the Saskatchewan Roughriders to win the 95th Grey Cup. He completed 267 of 459 passes for 4,002 yards and 24 touchdowns. He also rushed for 737 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Playing Career Highlights
College Football Journey
Kerry Joseph played quarterback for McNeese State University. He led his team to a great record of 42 wins and 11 losses. During his four seasons as a starter, they won two Southland Conference titles.
National Football League Experience
After college, Joseph joined the Cincinnati Bengals in 1996. In 1997, he played for the London Monarchs in the World League. He also tried out for the Washington Redskins as a slotback. In 1998, Joseph played for the Rhein Fire in NFL Europe. His team won the World Bowl Championship. He then joined the Seattle Seahawks, where he played safety for four years.
Canadian Football League Adventures
After his time in the NFL, Joseph moved to Canada. He wanted to play quarterback professionally.
Time with the Ottawa Renegades
The Ottawa Renegades signed Joseph in 2003. He became their starting quarterback that season. In 2005, he achieved a special milestone. He became only the third quarterback in CFL history to rush for over 1,000 yards in a single season. He finished with 1,006 rushing yards.
Success with the Saskatchewan Roughriders
The Renegades team stopped playing, so Joseph was chosen first by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in a special draft in 2006. On November 25, 2007, Joseph won his first Grey Cup. His team beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 23–19. A few days later, he was named the first-ever CFLPA Pro Player of the Year. Fans voted for this award during Grey Cup week.
Playing for the Toronto Argonauts
Joseph was traded to the Toronto Argonauts on March 5, 2008. He played two seasons with the Argonauts. The team did not make it to the playoffs during his time there. On February 21, 2010, the Argonauts released Joseph.
Years with the Edmonton Eskimos
On October 25, 2010, Joseph signed with the Edmonton Eskimos. He joined their practice team. He signed with the Eskimos again on June 8, 2011. In 2012, he started three games when the main quarterback was injured. He threw for 1,286 yards and 9 touchdowns. On January 28, 2014, Joseph announced he was retiring from professional football.
Return to Saskatchewan
On October 7, 2014, Joseph came out of retirement. He rejoined his old team, the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Before this, he was working as a coaching intern for the New Orleans Saints. Joseph played in three more regular season games and one playoff game for the Roughriders. On December 5, 2014, Joseph announced his final retirement from the CFL. In August 2019, Joseph was honored and inducted into the Saskatchewan Roughriders Plaza of Honour.

Coaching Career
After his playing career, Kerry Joseph became a football coach.
New Orleans Saints Internship
In 2014, Joseph worked as a training camp intern for the New Orleans Saints. He learned from head coach Sean Payton.
McNeese State Coaching Roles
In 2016, Joseph became the co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach at McNeese State University. He returned to McNeese State in 2018 as co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. In November 2018, he was named interim head coach for a short time.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Internship
In 2017, Joseph also served as a training camp intern for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He worked under head coach Dirk Koetter.
Southeastern Louisiana Coaching
In March 2019, Joseph was hired by Southeastern Louisiana University. He worked as their passing game coordinator and running backs coach.
Seattle Seahawks Coaching Roles
In 2020, Joseph joined the Seattle Seahawks as an offensive assistant. He was promoted to assistant wide receivers coach in March 2021. In 2022, he became the assistant quarterbacks coach.
Chicago Bears Coaching
On January 26, 2024, Joseph was hired by the Chicago Bears as their quarterbacks coach.
