Kerry Tremaine Joseph (born October 4, 1973) is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the quarterbacks coach for the Chicago Bears in the National Football League (NFL).

Joseph played college football as a quarterback at McNeese State University. He was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals in 1996. He later played as a defensive back for the Seattle Seahawks from 1998 to 2001.

From 2003 to 2014, Joseph played in the Canadian Football League (CFL) as a quarterback. In 2007, he was named the CFL's Most Outstanding Player. That year, he led the Saskatchewan Roughriders to win the 95th Grey Cup. He threw for over 4,000 yards and 24 touchdowns. He also led all quarterbacks in rushing, with 737 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Kerry Joseph had an exciting career playing football. He played in college, the NFL, and the CFL, showing off his skills as both a quarterback and a defensive back.

College Football Years

Joseph played quarterback for McNeese State University. During his four years as a starter, he helped his team achieve a great record of 42 wins and 11 losses. He also led them to win two Southland Conference titles.

Playing in the National Football League

After college, Joseph spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals in 1996. In 1997, he played for the London Monarchs in the World League of American Football. He also tried out for the Washington Redskins.

In 1998, Joseph played for the Rhein Fire in NFL Europe. There, he helped his team win the World Bowl Championship. After that, he joined the Seattle Seahawks, where he played as a safety for four years. He left the Seahawks in 2002.

Playing in the Canadian Football League

Joseph then moved to Canada to play quarterback professionally. He joined the Canadian Football League (CFL), where he became a star player.

Ottawa Renegades

In 2003, Joseph joined the Ottawa Renegades. He quickly became their starting quarterback. In 2005, he made history by becoming one of only three quarterbacks in CFL history to rush for over 1,000 yards in a single season. He finished that season with 1,006 rushing yards.

Saskatchewan Roughriders

When the Renegades stopped playing, Joseph was chosen first in a special draft by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2006.

On November 25, 2007, Joseph led the Roughriders to win the Grey Cup for the first time in his career. They beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 23–19. A few days later, he was named the CFLPA Pro Player of the Year, based on fan votes.

Toronto Argonauts

On March 5, 2008, Joseph was traded from the Saskatchewan Roughriders to the Toronto Argonauts. He played two seasons with the Argonauts.

During his time with the Argonauts, the team struggled and did not make it to the playoffs. On February 21, 2010, Joseph was released by the team.

Edmonton Eskimos

On October 25, 2010, Joseph signed with the Edmonton Eskimos. He briefly retired from football in January 2011 and worked as a personal trainer. However, he signed with the Eskimos again in June 2011.

In the 2012 season, Joseph started three games for the Eskimos. He threw for 1,286 yards, with 9 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. On January 28, 2014, Joseph announced his retirement from professional football. After retiring, he worked as a Program Director for a speed training school.

Return to Saskatchewan

On October 7, 2014, Joseph came out of retirement to rejoin his former team, the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Before this, he had been working as a coaching intern with the New Orleans Saints. Joseph started his first game back on October 19, 2014. He played in two more regular season games and one playoff game for the Roughriders. In the playoff game, he faced some challenges.

On December 5, 2014, Joseph officially announced his retirement from the CFL as a Saskatchewan Roughrider. In August 2019, Joseph was honored and inducted into the Saskatchewan Roughriders Plaza of Honour.

Coaching Career

After his playing career, Kerry Joseph moved into coaching, sharing his knowledge and experience with new players.

New Orleans Saints

In 2014, Joseph worked as a training camp intern for the New Orleans Saints. He learned from head coach Sean Payton.

McNeese State (First Time)

In 2016, Joseph returned to his college alma mater, McNeese State University. He was hired as the co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

In 2017, Joseph had another training camp internship. This time, it was with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

McNeese State (Second Time)

In 2018, Joseph went back to McNeese State. He served as co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. In November 2018, he was named the interim head coach for a short period.

Southeastern Louisiana

In March 2019, Joseph joined Southeastern Louisiana University. He worked as the passing game coordinator and running backs coach.

Seattle Seahawks

In 2020, Joseph was hired by the Seattle Seahawks as an offensive assistant. In 2021, he was promoted to assistant wide receivers coach. In 2022, he became the assistant quarterbacks coach for the team.

Chicago Bears

On January 26, 2024, Joseph was hired by the Chicago Bears. He became their quarterbacks coach.
