Kerry North–West Limerick was a special area in Ireland that elected people to the Dáil Éireann. The Dáil is like the main house of parliament in Ireland, where laws are made. This area was used for only one election, from 2011 to 2016.
People living in Kerry North–West Limerick voted for 3 representatives. These representatives are called Teachtaí Dála, or TDs for short. The way they voted was using a system called proportional representation by means of the single transferable vote (PR-STV). This system helps make sure that the number of TDs elected from each party is fair, based on how many votes they get.
What Was Kerry North–West Limerick?
This special voting area was created in 2009. It was put together from parts of two older areas: Kerry North and Limerick West. It was only used for the election in 2011.
The area covered the northern part of County Kerry. This included towns like Tralee, Listowel, Tarbert, Ballybunion, and Castleisland. It also included the western part of County Limerick. This part had the town of Abbeyfeale and villages like Athea, Glin, and Mountcollins.
After the 2016 election, this constituency was changed again. Its areas became part of new constituencies. These new areas were called Kerry and Limerick County.
