Kevin Glenn, Jr. (born June 12, 1979) is a former professional Canadian football quarterback from America. He played for many teams in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He started his CFL journey with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2001. Kevin Glenn is known as a "journeyman quarterback." This means he played for many different teams during his career. In fact, he is the only player to have been part of every team in the CFL!

College Football Career

Kevin Glenn played college football for the Illinois State Redbirds. He was a star player there for four years. During his time, he set 25 school records! He threw for 8,251 yards and 62 touchdowns. He also ran for 611 yards and eight touchdowns. In 1998, he led his team to their first-ever playoff game. He was also the top passer in his conference that year.

Professional Football Career

Playing for the Saskatchewan Roughriders (First Time)

Kevin Glenn first joined the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2001. He played in 18 games that year, starting six of them. He threw for 938 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 152 yards and two touchdowns. In 2002, he played in 11 games. He threw for 777 yards and three touchdowns. He re-signed with the Roughriders in 2003. He played in all 18 games that season.

Moving to the Toronto Argonauts and Winnipeg Blue Bombers

In 2004, the Roughriders traded Glenn to the Toronto Argonauts. But on the same day, the Argonauts traded him to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. In 2004, he became the main quarterback for the Bombers. He threw for 2,329 yards and 14 touchdowns.

The 2005 season was a great one for Glenn. He threw for 3,571 yards and 27 touchdowns. He even threw five touchdowns in one game! Despite his strong play, the Bombers did not win many games that year.

In 2006, Glenn helped the Bombers reach the playoffs. He even played through an injury. In 2007, he became one of the best quarterbacks in the CFL. He led Winnipeg to the 95th Grey Cup game. But he broke his arm in the playoff final. This meant he missed the Grey Cup game. The Bombers lost the Grey Cup without him.

The 2008 Winnipeg Blue Bombers season was tough for Glenn. He struggled and lost his starting job for a bit. He later got it back. He was released by the Bombers in 2009.

Playing for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Glenn signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2009. He started as a backup. But he soon became the starting quarterback. He led the Ti-Cats to the playoffs for the first time since 2004. In 2010, he had a very strong year. He threw for 5,100 yards and 33 touchdowns. He led the Tiger-Cats to the playoffs again in 2011.

Playing for the Calgary Stampeders

In 2012, Glenn was traded to the Calgary Stampeders. He was supposed to be a backup. But the starting quarterback got hurt. So, Glenn became the starter. He led the Stampeders to 10 wins. He also led them to the 100th Grey Cup game. They lost the Grey Cup, but Glenn had a great season. He moved up on the CFL's all-time passing yards list.

He returned to the Stampeders in 2013. Again, he filled in when the starter was injured. On October 18, 2013, he became the 10th all-time leading quarterback in passing yards. He helped the Stampeders have the best record in the league.

Playing for the Ottawa Redblacks

In 2013, Glenn was picked by the new team, the Ottawa Redblacks. But they signed another quarterback to be the starter. Glenn asked to be traded.

Playing for the BC Lions

In 2014, Glenn was traded to the BC Lions. He started most of their games that season. The Lions made the playoffs. But they lost their first playoff game. Glenn became a free agent after the season.

Playing for the Saskatchewan Roughriders (Second Time)

In 2015, Glenn returned to the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He started as a backup. But the starting quarterback got a serious injury. Glenn became the starter again. He played well, but the team struggled.

Playing for the Montreal Alouettes

Later in 2015, Glenn was traded to the Montreal Alouettes. He played in three games for them. He tried to help them reach the playoffs.

He started the 2016 season as the Alouettes' starting quarterback. He started nine games. But the team only won three of them. He then became a backup again.

Playing for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (Second Time)

In September 2016, Glenn was traded back to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He was a backup quarterback. He played in one game. He was released by the Bombers before the next season.

Playing for the Saskatchewan Roughriders (Third Time)

In 2017, Glenn signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders for a third time. He won the starting job in training camp. He was the main quarterback for most of the 2017 season. He passed Ron Lancaster to become sixth on the CFL's all-time passing yards list. On September 29, 2017, he won his 100th game as a starting quarterback. This tied him for eighth all-time. The Riders made the playoffs that year. Glenn was released in January 2018.

Playing for the Edmonton Eskimos

On January 15, 2018, the Edmonton Eskimos signed Glenn. This meant he had now been part of every team in the Canadian Football League! On September 29, 2018, he played in his 300th CFL game. Only two other quarterbacks have played in more games.

On June 12, 2019, his 40th birthday, Kevin Glenn announced he was retiring from playing football.

Future Plans

Kevin Glenn has joked about coming out of retirement. He wants to play for the potential new team, the Atlantic Schooners. This would let him keep his record of being part of every CFL team. In 2019, the Blue Bombers asked him to come out of retirement. Their starting quarterback was hurt. Glenn thought about it, but he said no.

Coaching Career

After retiring as a player, Kevin Glenn started coaching. From 2020 to 2022, he was an assistant coach at Detroit Catholic Central High School. His team had a great record of 25 wins and 7 losses. In May 2023, he became the head coach at University Liggett School. He led them to a 7-3 record and a playoff spot. In May 2024, he was named the head coach at University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy.
