Kevin Lewis is a former American football player. He played as a cornerback in the National Football League (NFL). He was part of the San Francisco 49ers and the Phoenix Cardinals. Before joining the NFL, he played college football at Northwestern State University.

Early Life and High School
Kevin Lewis was born on November 14, 1966, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He went to Alcée Fortier High School. There, he played high school football with other players who later joined the NFL. These included Maurice Hurst and Aeneas Williams.
Lewis was very good at sports. He earned special honors in both football and basketball. He was also an excellent student. He graduated as the valedictorian of his class. This means he was the top student.
College Football Career
When Kevin Lewis finished high school, he was smaller than many football players. He was 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighed 146 pounds. But he was determined to play college football. He convinced the coaches at Northwestern State University to let him join the team. He joined as a walk-on cornerback. This means he joined without a scholarship at first.
He played for the Northwestern State Demons from 1985 to 1988. His hard work paid off. In 2007, he was honored for his achievements. He was added to the N-Club Hall of Fame. He was also named one of the Top 100 Demons of the Century.
Playing in the NFL

Phoenix Cardinals Team
Lewis first played for the Phoenix Cardinals in 1989. He was with the team for a short time. He was released from the team in July 1989.
San Francisco 49ers Team
Lewis then joined the San Francisco 49ers. He signed with them in April 1990. He was released in September but signed again later that month. He played in four games before being released again in November.
However, he signed with the 49ers for a third time in November 1990. He then played in the last six regular season games. He also played in their two playoff games. The 49ers won one playoff game against the Washington Redskins. They lost a close game to the New York Giants in the NFC Championship. During the 1990 season, Lewis made one interception. He ran the ball back 28 yards after catching it.
1991 Season
In 1991, Lewis played in all 16 games for the 49ers. He started three of those games. He also returned one punt during a game. This was the only time he did that in his NFL career.
Lewis had two interceptions in 1991. One was against the Minnesota Vikings. The other was in the last game of the season against the Chicago Bears. He returned that interception for 20 yards.
1992 Season
Before the 1992 season began, Lewis got injured. He was placed on injured reserve in September 1992. This meant he could not play for the season.

Kevin Lewis is married to Sarah Lewis. They have three children: Kevin Lewis Jr., Cameron Lewis, and Makayla Lewis. His son, Cameron, also played cornerback at Northwestern State University, just like his father. Kevin Lewis lives in Clinton, Mississippi.
