Kevin Yarde is a Canadian politician. He used to be a weather presenter on TV. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in 2018. This means he helped make laws for the province of Ontario.

He was first elected to represent an area called Brampton North. When he started, he was part of the Ontario New Democratic Party. Later, he decided to leave that party and work as an independent politician. This means he didn't belong to any specific political party anymore.

Kevin Yarde was also part of Ontario's first ever Black Caucus. A "caucus" is a group of politicians who work together. This group included other politicians like Laura Mae Lindo, Faisal Hassan, Jill Andrew, and Rima Berns-McGown.

Becoming an Independent Politician

When it was time for the 2022 election, Kevin Yarde did not get chosen by his party to run again. He was the only politician from his party who didn't get to run again. Because of this, he decided to leave the New Democratic Party. He then became an independent politician for the rest of his time in office.

Before Politics

Before he became a politician, Kevin Yarde worked for a TV channel called The Weather Network. He was a weather presenter, telling people about the weather.

Early Life and Education

Kevin Yarde was born in Toronto, a big city in Ontario. Even though he didn't live in Brampton, his family has strong connections there.

He went to university to study journalism. He studied at both York University and Ryerson University (which is now called Toronto Metropolitan University). After finishing school, he started his TV career on a community TV network called Rogers TV.

In 2001, he joined The Weather Network. He started as a reporter who went out to different places to cover stories. Later, he became a host in the studio.

Community Work and Family

Kevin Yarde is a member of a group called the National Association of Black Journalists. He also volunteers at Covenant House in Toronto. This is a place that helps young people who are homeless or need support.

He has a famous cousin named Tyler Stewart. Tyler is the drummer for a popular band called the Barenaked Ladies.
