Dr. Allama Khalid Maḥmūd (born October 17, 1925 – died May 14, 2020) was an important Islamic scholar from Pakistan. He also served as a judge in Pakistan's highest court, the Supreme Court. He is well-known for his work in England, where he started the Islamic Academy and the City Jamia Masjid in Manchester. A big part of his life's work was teaching about the idea of the Finality of Prophethood in Islam.

His Education Journey
Khalid Maḥmūd studied Islamic sciences with many respected teachers. Some of his teachers included Muhammad Zakariya Kandhlawi and Shabbir Ahmad Usmani.
He earned his PhD degree in 1970 from the University of Birmingham in England. He also completed master's degrees in subjects like Arabic, Persian, Philosophy, and Theology. On top of that, he earned a law degree (LLB).
His Career and Work
Dr. Khalid Maḥmūd had an impressive career. He served as a senior judge in the Supreme Court of Pakistan. This court deals with important legal matters, especially those related to Islamic law.
He was also the director of the Islamic Academy in Manchester, UK. He founded a special mosque there called Gity Jamia Masjid. He also led the Islamic Center Manchester.
Working in the UK
In the 1960s, while in the UK, he worked with other scholars like Yusuf Motala. They worked together to spread Islamic knowledge.
Traveling for Islam
Dr. Maḥmūd traveled to more than 50 countries during his life. His main goal was to share the message about the Finality of Prophethood. He often traveled with Manzoor Ahmad Chinioti.
For example, they spent six months in South Africa in the 1970s. This was a time when there were many discussions about the Finality of Prophethood.
Building Mosques and Helping Communities
Throughout his life, Dr. Maḥmūd helped build many mosques and Islamic centers. He focused especially on areas where people faced poverty. These places included countries like Ghana, Gambia, and many in Southeast Asia.
He also set up many charities in these areas. These charities provided help like orphanages, health centers, and food banks.
His Books and Writings
Dr. Khalid Maḥmūd wrote many books on Islamic topics. One of his detailed studies was about the Barelvi school of thought.
His doctoral thesis compared the views of important Islamic scholars like Muhammad al-Bukhari on basic Islamic beliefs. Some of his other books include:
