Khomeyn (Persian: خمين) is a city in Iran. It is located in the Markazi province, serving as the main city of Khomeyn County.

History of Khomeyn
The name Khomeyn was first written about in an old book called History of the Prophets and Kings. This shows that the city has a very long history.
Some old structures, like underground water channels called qanats and an ancient fire-temple, show that people lived here even before Islam. About 200 years ago, Khomeyn was known as the center of an area called Kamareh.
Birthplace of Ruhollah Khomeini
A special family house in Khomeyn is famous because it was the birthplace of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. He was a very important leader who founded the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He was born on September 24, 1902, though some records suggest May 17, 1900. This house is now a historical monument and a museum that people can visit. In 2022, the house was damaged, but it remains an important historical site for visitors.
