Khuzaima Qutbuddin (born June 5, 1940, died March 30, 2016) was a significant religious figure. He was the son of the 51st Da'i al-Mutlaq, a top leader of the Dawoodi Bohras. The Dawoodi Bohras are a group within the Shia branch of Islam. Qutbuddin also held the title of Mazoon, which is a very high position in their religious hierarchy.

Who Was Khuzaima Qutbuddin?
Khuzaima Qutbuddin was born in Mumbai, which was then part of British India. His father was Taher Saifuddin, the 51st Da'i al-Mutlaq. This means his father was the spiritual head of the Dawoodi Bohra community.
His Important Religious Role
In 1965, Khuzaima Qutbuddin was appointed as the Mazoon by Mohammed Burhanuddin, who was the 52nd Da'i al-Mutlaq. The Mazoon is the second-highest position in the Dawoodi Bohra faith. It is a very important role, helping the Da'i al-Mutlaq lead the community.
A Question of Leadership
After the 52nd Da'i al-Mutlaq, Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin, passed away, there were different views on who would lead next. Khuzaima Qutbuddin stated that his half-brother, Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin, had chosen him as the next leader in 1965. However, Mufaddal Saifuddin, who is the son of the late Syedna Burhanuddin, said that his father had named him as the successor many times, including in London in 2011.
Later Life and Passing
Khuzaima Qutbuddin spent his life dedicated to his faith and community. He passed away on March 30, 2016, in California, U.S..
