The Selection is a series of five popular young adult novels. They are set in a made-up country called Illéa, which used to be North and Central America. The main idea of the books is a competition called The Selection. In this competition, young people in Illéa compete to marry the current king's child.

The first three books are told from the point of view of a character named America Singer. She joins The Selection because her mother wants her to, even though America is secretly in love with someone from a lower social class. The last two books, The Heir and The Crown, are about Princess Eadlyn. She is the first daughter of Prince Maxon and Lady America Singer.

How Readers Liked It

Critics and readers have enjoyed The Selection series. The A.V. Club said the first book was fun to read.

The Guardian newspaper also reviewed Kiera Cass's work. In 2015, they wrote that Cass makes her books exciting with dramatic events and romantic moments. They also mentioned that her stories are great for people who don't usually enjoy reading.

The Siren

Kiera Cass also wrote a book called The Siren. This story is about a girl named Kahlen. She lost her family when their cruise ship sank. Kahlen is then chosen to become a siren. This means she must serve the Ocean for one hundred years. Her voice is dangerous to humans.

One day, Kahlen meets a boy named Akinli, who she really likes. She wants to be with him, but she knows she can't because of her siren duties. She struggles with her feelings while her "sisters" try to convince her to forget him.

Cass first published The Siren herself online in 2008. On January 26, 2016, HarperCollins released a new, updated version of the book.
