Vasiliki “Kiki” Dimoula (born Vasiliki Radou; June 6, 1931 – February 22, 2020) was a famous Greek poet. She made history by being the first woman poet to have her work published by Gallimard, a very important French publisher.

Kiki Dimoula's Poetry: Themes and Style

Kiki Dimoula's poems often explored feelings like insecurity and missing things. She wrote about everyday topics, from a "Marlboro boy" to mobile phones. She used words in surprising ways, sometimes twisting grammar to make her poems more powerful. Even with serious themes, her poems always kept a sense of hope.

Her poetry has been translated into many languages. These include English, French, German, Swedish, Danish, Spanish, and Italian. In 2014, a magazine called Tinpahar published some of her well-known poems translated into English.

Awards and Recognition

Kiki Dimoula received many important awards for her writing. She won the Greek State Prize twice, first in 1971 and again in 1988. She also received the Kostas and Eleni Ouranis Prize in 1994. In 2001, she earned the Αριστείο Γραμμάτων from the Academy of Athens.

In 2009, she was given the European Prize for Literature. This is a big honor for writers in Europe. Since 2002, Dimoula was also a member of the Academy of Athens. This is Greece's highest academic institution.
