Kim Hwang-sik (Hangul: 김황식; Hanja: 金滉植; born 9 August 1948) is a South Korean lawyer and politician. He served as the prime minister of South Korea from October 2010 to February 2013. He worked under President Lee Myung-bak. Before becoming prime minister, he was the head of the Board of Audit and Inspection (BAI).

Early Life and Education
Kim Hwang-sik was born in Jangseong, a place in South Jeolla Province, South Korea. He studied law at Seoul National University, which is a famous university in South Korea. He also studied for a time at Marburg University in Germany.
Career as a Judge
After finishing his studies, Kim Hwang-sik became a judge. He worked in different courts across South Korea. From 2005 to 2008, he served as a justice on the Supreme Court of Korea. This is the highest court in the country.
Leading the Board of Audit and Inspection
In September 2008, Kim Hwang-sik became the Chairperson of the Board of Audit and Inspection (BAI). The BAI is an important government agency. Its job is to check how government money is spent and to make sure public officials are doing their jobs correctly.
Becoming Prime Minister
On 16 September 2010, Kim Hwang-sik was chosen to be the new prime minister. The National Assembly, which is like the country's parliament, approved his appointment on 29 September. He officially started his role as Prime Minister on 1 October 2010. He served in this important position until February 2013.
